Introducing the Calico Crab (
Hepatus epheliticus
), a captivating and distinctive addition to your marine aquarium. With its striking calico-like coloration and unique appearance, these crabs not only add a touch of intrigue to your tank but also play a vital role in maintaining a clean and harmonious underwater world.
Calico Crabs are easily recognized by their captivating mosaic of colors, with patches of orange, red, and black on their shells. This unique pattern sets them apart and makes them a sought-after choice for aquarists. But their importance goes beyond aesthetics - they are diligent scavengers and algae-eaters, contributing to a thriving and balanced aquarium ecosystem.
These crabs actively patrol live rock and substrate in search of algae, detritus, and leftover food, helping to maintain water quality by preventing the buildup of waste. Calico Crabs are known for their peaceful disposition, making them compatible with a variety of tank inhabitants. Elevate the beauty and health of your marine aquarium with the exquisite Calico Crab!

Very satisfied
I ordered my first crab and he was DOA. Debbie responded immediately and offered to ship me another crab. My second crab just arrived and was drip acclimated and is now in my tank. He looks healthy, with no sign of stress. I would definitely order from this company, great customer service!

Big Crab
Was not expecting this crab to be so large. He’s beautiful and great addition to the tank. Does require feeding larger food and will burry in the sand. Make sure you have some space for the large size

Very satisfied
this guy came in huge, he also looks pissed off so my son calls him "The Godfather". I am not sure why, but OK. He loves to hunt in the sand, so we hide shells filled with krill in the sand and he goes to town! Awesome critter.....be aware though, if you have Nassarius snails, it WILL pull them up and eat them....just happened to witness that!

Q:
I am odering some shrimos and I need to know if the crabs you offer are safe to be in the 20 gallen tank?
Asked by:
Raul
- 4/26/2017
A:
I would not suggest this crab for anything less than a 30 gal tank and that may be pushing it as these crabs do get fairly large.
