Questions and Answers
Our Live Ocean Sand is live sand collected from our Aquaculture Lease sites, more than 12 miles from land in 30' of water. The sand we collect is a mixture of sand, shells and crushed corals. This makes for a unique and natural looking substrate, it is also REALLY Live containing a huge assortment of micro-fauna that simply wont survive for months and months in a bag on a store shelf.
We suggest 1lb Live Ocean Floor per gallon of aquarium for a 1 to 2 inch base.

Great sand with active life in it--better than off the self packages which sit around for long periods. Just what I needed to get my tank finished.

50/50?
This has to be one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write. Not because the product is bad; but because it's hard to know if you're satisfied with it. I can say I'm not UNsatisfied! First, it's not so much sand, as it is crushed corals and shells and bits of rock. Yes, there is some sand in it; but just know the former. I found maybe two hermits and some weird white looking worms in the 8 lbs. I ordered. And I'm assuming it's doing its job as I've had no ammonia spikes in the isolation tank I'm keeping it in for observation (albeit there's live rock in there too). So yeah, I'm not impressed, but I'm not disappointed either. I got what I expected! :)

Beach vibes
Honestly wished I would’ve ought all my sand from here from the start, had a few extra little hermit crabs that popped out when adding the sand into my tank that joined the clean up crew. Love that it’s not off the shelf sand and full of shells and active life

The Beach in my office
I ordered 30 pounds of sand to 'top off' my 180 gallon tank and 20 gallon sump that I already had several pounds of "ocean direct" sane and wish I had gone with all of the sand from here. My wife said "wow, look at all the shells, it looks just like the beach"! I actually need to order more and will be doing so soon. Pleasant surprise - hermit crab survived the trip and is still thriving some weeks later. HIGHLY recommened.

Q:
How much sand do you get for $1.00 ? How much would it cost to ship 100lb to California, to Ontario , Ca International airport
Asked by:
Andrew Cunningham

A:
We sell the sand by the lb. So it would be $1 per lb.
Shipping rates vary by carrier, Southwest flies to ONT, and that would be about $1 lb for shipping.
