Notes: The Ruby Red Dragonet is a relatively new species to the aquarium trade only being introduced in 2013.
The Ruby Red Dragonet is a beautiful reef safe fish. In addition to its very deep red body coloration, the Ruby Red Dragonet also sports unique yellow pectoral fins, which are traversed by in an incomplete black stripe. Males may be distinguished from females by their more-elongated first dorsal spine.
To be successful with the Ruby Red Dragonet requires a very well-established 30 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of live rock and a sandy substrate. The aquarium should also have a good population of amphipods and copepods. The Ruby Red Dragonet is relatively hardy in a system that provides the necessary food, as they are sometimes very picky eaters and will only eat live amphipods and copepods.
